Job description:
A local organization is seeking an experienced Buyer/Procurement Specialist to support purchasing, bidding, contract administration, and vendor coordination. This role is ideal for someone with a strong procurement background who understands how to manage purchasing activity accurately, ethically, and in compliance with established policies and procedures. Prior experience with bids, RFPs/RFQs, governmental purchasing, public procurement, or contract administration is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:

Prepare, review, and process purchasing documents, including requisitions, purchase orders, bid documents, solicitation materials, and related contract documentation.

Assist with competitive bidding, requests for proposals, requests for quotations, and vendor selection processes.

Confer with internal departments regarding purchasing needs, specifications, quantity, quality, delivery timelines, and potential alternatives.

Communicate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers regarding products, services, pricing, terms, and procurement requirements.

Support contract administration, including compliance tracking, contract amendments, extensions, change orders, and related follow-up.

Research vendors and market sources to help secure competitive pricing and cost-effective purchasing options.

Maintain accurate records of solicitations, responses, purchases, contracts, correspondence, and related procurement activity.

Help ensure purchasing activity is conducted in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and ethical procurement standards.
Requirements:

At least 3–5 years of procurement, purchasing, or buyer experience.

Experience with bids, RFPs, RFQs, governmental purchasing, or public procurement strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of purchasing practices, vendor communication, contract documents, and procurement procedures.

Ability to review specifications, compare vendor responses, analyze pricing, and maintain organized purchasing records.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

High attention to detail, professionalism, and integrity.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance, Purchasing, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of public bid processes, governmental purchasing, or Louisiana public procurement procedures.

Experience working with contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and solicitation documents.

Procurement certification such as CPPB or similar certification is a plus.
