About the Role:
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of raw materials for manufacturing operations. This role ensures the timely availability of materials, maintains optimal inventory levels, and drives cost-effective procurement strategies. The position works cross-functionally with production, logistics, and accounting teams to support efficient plant operations and uninterrupted production flow. Additionally, this position will support Human Resources with administrative payroll duties.
Job Requirements:
- Associate degree in Business Administration or related field
Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, with proficiency in Excel
- Ability to learn and adapt to various operating systems and software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extremely proficient with production planning systems, such as MRP
Responsibilities:
- Source and procure raw materials to meet production requirements, with a strong focus on cost, quality, and delivery performance
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, brokers, and vendors
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply risks, particularly for key commodities (e.g., paper and chemicals)
- Support vendor negotiations, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules
- Evaluate supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, or cost
- Create, process, and track purchase orders within the ERP system (JDE E1 or similar)
- Ensure all purchasing documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies
- Coordinate with suppliers and logistics partners to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective transportation
- Resolve discrepancies related to pricing, shipments, invoices, or receiving
- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials, including paper, chemicals, and packaging supplies
- Ensure accurate inventory transactions, including receipts, adjustments, and transfers within ERP/MRP systems
- Partner with production and planning teams to align purchasing activities with production schedules
- Participate in cycle counts and inventory reconciliation activities; investigate and resolve variances
- Maintain data integrity
- Collaborate with production, logistics, and accounting teams to ensure seamless material flow
- Support production planning by ensuring materials are available to meet schedules and demand forecasts
- Communicate material availability, delays, or risks that may impact operations
- Create, track and process POs for all raw materials in the JDE E1 platform
- Daily review of hours, vacation and sick time in ADP.
- Review of absenteeism and print documents for supervisors.
- Reconcile and submit weekly payroll to Staffing Agencies covering all temp labor.
- Bi-weekly reporting and submittal of payroll.
- Work with plant manager to plan employee appreciation events.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
