SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Procure goods and services in support of NSS operational and project requirements in a timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner
- Process, issue, and expedite a high volume of purchase orders to support project schedules and operational needs
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm pricing, quantities, delivery schedules, order fulfillment, and receipt of goods/services
- Research and identify qualified manufacturers and distributors capable of meeting NSS quality, technical, and contractual requirements
- Solicit Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and evaluate supplier proposals, pricing, lead times, quality, and terms and conditions
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and supplier terms to obtain the best overall value for NSS and its customers
- Monitor supplier performance and proactively address shortages, delays, discrepancies, and procurement-related issues
- Ensure procurement activities comply with applicable federal, state, contractual, FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and company procurement requirements and procedures
- Create, manage, and maintain procurement documentation and files in accordance with established company policies and procedures
- Collaborate effectively with Engineering, Production, Quality, Program Management, Accounting, and other departments to support project execution and resolve issues
- Communicate professionally and respond promptly to requests for information from internal and external customers
- Assist Accounting with supplier invoice research, discrepancy resolution, and payment support activities
- Maintain accurate procurement records, purchasing data, and supplier information
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accountability, initiative, and follow-through in daily responsibilities
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and gain exposure to engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program operations within a growing defense industry organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Six (6) months in purchasing activity with a desire to learn new things.
Abilities, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Basic computer skills; able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Strong interpersonal skills; a team player and independent worker.
- Excellent planning and analytical skills.
- Negotiation skills; to negotiate pricing, schedules, and terms and conditions.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to interface with individuals at all levels within the company, suppliers and customers.
- Effective time management skills and high level of attention to detail
- Solid knowledge and understand of procurement processes.
- Ability to be well-organized, multi-task, and very flexible with charging priorities and processes.
- Ability to convey a sense of urgency, persistence, and commitment
- High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
- Must be able to perform basic to moderately difficult mathematical functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division averaging, and percentages.
- Independent and critical thinking skills to solve problems and solutions.
Physical and/or Medical Demands: Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; talk; climb stairs; listen; vision capable of reading, viewing a computer screen and inspection of incoming orders; able to lift and carry a minimum of ten (10) pounds.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- One to two (1-2) years experience in Department of Defense contract procurement preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) procurement requirements.
- Knowledge of Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR) procurement requirements.
- Knowledge of International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Basic knowledge of electronic components.

- Interacts with all departments within NSS.
- Interacts with manufacturers, suppliers, and customers.
