Procurement Specialist, Chemicals & Catalyst

As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the safe, reliable, and cost-effective procurement of chemicals and catalyst for refinery, terminal, and asphalt operations while driving strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier performance. Your goal will be to develop and execute category strategies, manage supplier relationships and contracts, and ensure continuity of supply through proactive market analysis, inventory management, and stakeholder collaboration. Your success will be demonstrated through measurable cost savings, operational reliability, effective supplier partnerships, and the ability to identify and implement solutions that deliver long-term value to the business.

Your Responsibilities:

• Lead procurement of chemicals and catalysts for Refinery, Terminal, and Asphalt operations, ensuring supply continuity and operational reliability
• Act as the primary escalation point for supply chain and operational disruptions, driving timely issue resolution
• Identify business and operational challenges, conduct analyses, and implement effective solutions
• Manage the full strategic sourcing lifecycle, including RFx development, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract execution
• Support the development and implementation of multi-year category strategies aligned with business objectives and market conditions
• Apply commercial and legal knowledge to proposals, contracts, and supplier agreements
• Analyze market trends, pricing, forecasts, and demand patterns to support sourcing decisions and drive standardization opportunities
• Lead Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reduction initiatives, identify savings opportunities, and optimize spend through consolidation
• Develop and execute negotiation strategies for GSAs, MSAs, and other commercial agreements
• Manage supplier relationships and contract performance through KPIs, continuous improvement initiatives, and value creation
• Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to resolve service, quality, delivery, and performance issues
• Oversee refinery and terminal chemical and catalyst inventories, including related Procure-to-Pay (P2P) activities and inventory optimization initiatives

Your Experience:

• Post-secondary education in business, engineering, or equivalent experience
• 5-10+ years of experience in Supply Management/Procurement roles
• Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or other similar designation is an asset
