This role is responsible for the purchasing and inventory management of indirect materials and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) supplies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position works closely with maintenance, operations, and production teams to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining accurate inventory levels and strong supplier relationships. This role requires frequent direct interaction and follow-up with suppliers to support uninterrupted plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Procure MRO and indirect materials such as maintenance parts, tools, consumables, and operating supplies
- Create, review, and manage purchase orders in alignment with plant needs and budget guidelines
- Maintain frequent communication with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, expediting, and delivery issues
- Follow up proactively on open orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolve shortages or discrepancies
- Support sourcing activities and identify opportunities for cost savings and supplier consolidation
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate plant inventory levels to support production and maintenance requirements
- Monitor min/max levels, reorder points, and usage trends to prevent stockouts or excess inventory
- Conduct cycle counts and assists with physical inventory activities
- Work closely with maintenance and production teams to anticipate upcoming material needs
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and organization of MRO inventory
Plant & Cross-Functional Support
- Act as the primary purchasing contact for maintenance and operations teams
- Respond quickly to urgent or unplanned material needs typical of a manufacturing environment
- Troubleshoot supply issues and provide solutions that minimize downtime
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory control and purchasing processes
Qualifications
Must Have
- Experience in manufacturing, maintenance, warehouse, or MRO buying
- Prior exposure to indirect procurement, inventory control, or plant support roles
- ERP or purchasing system experience preferred (SAP, Oracle, CMMS, or similar)
- High school diploma or equivalent required

COMPENSATION
The annual base salary range for this position is$71775-$89770k. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
