Role Purpose Statement

The Category Manager utilizes established processes to develop and implement formal sourcing strategies for spend categories.  The Category Manager works with and supports internal stakeholders to define requirements and create sourcing strategies that optimize operational value.  Responsibilities include spend analysis, supplier identification, market research, negotiation, contracting, and ongoing supplier value management in support of continuous improvement.  On an ongoing basis, the Category Manager monitors their programs, incorporates changes to the internal business needs and external supply markets that can impact future business performance for spend categories, and modifies sourcing strategies accordingly.   The Category Manager seeks to ensure that savings and value objectives and targets are realized for their categories.  Additionally, the Category Manager provides ongoing tactical procurement support for spend categories as required by Customer Service Centers.

Main Accountabilities

•Work in collaboration with the Customer Service Centers and other corporate disciplines to determine current and future sourcing needs, coordinate the best method for fulfilling those needs and monitor ongoing effectiveness
•Develop well documented sourcing strategies for recommendation, approval, and execution
•Project Management of large scale strategic initiatives across a variety of stakeholder groups
•Compare the assigned categories to industry trends and market standards
•Strategically source vendors who meet the required qualifications
•Conduct Request for Proposals for new or existing products and services
•Draft and negotiate contracts for assigned categories (with direction from legal and stakeholders as appropriate) 
•Align with, and clearly communicate program changes, to relevant stakeholders 
•Provide direct support to the relevant stakeholders with implementation of new vendor program launches and ongoing internal support.
•Identify, assess, and pursue supplier development opportunities based on the expected impact/benefits to SkyChefs.
•Conduct ongoing category management via continuous spend and invoice analysis, as well as identification of changing needs and requirements for assigned category’s products or services; work with internal customers and suppliers to adapt as required
•Drive performance that results in year over year cost reductions.
•Ensure that vendor performance issues are addressed quickly and, should problems continue, provide analysis of alternatives, recommending and making changes when appropriate 
•Ensures category associated vendor contracts are current and compliant to terms & conditions
•Provide senior leadership & stakeholders formal presentations summarizing sourcing events and impacts/results.

Leadership
•Model corporate values and participate as required in groups, initiatives and advisory bodies
•Proactively support other departments and functions as the Subject Matter Expert

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

•Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience required
•Five to seven years sourcing experience with relevant categories 
•Experience with large scale strategic program rollout
•Project Management experience
•Verbal and written communication and presentation skills
•Operations and Material Management experience a plus
•Fluency in negotiating business contract terms and conditions is required
•Demonstrated competence in cost reduction and process improvement
•Excellent analytical skills
•Ability to gain stakeholder buy-in
•Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office
