Lone Star Bakery, Inc. is looking for a Procurement Assistant / Junior Buyer to support our procurement team in optimizing spend, managing supplier relationships, and driving data-informed sourcing decisions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on analytics, process improvement, and turning complex data into actionable insights.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed spend analysis, category analysis, and supplier performance reporting using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Develop and maintain dashboards to track procurement KPIs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, perform market research and bench marking.
- Support contract management, including tracking expirations and compliance.
- Compile requests for materials/services from departments and prepare purchase orders.
- Send purchase orders to suppliers and track their status, delivery schedules, and receipt of goods.
- Maintain records of Freight Contracts and arrangements adding details to Purchase Orders.
- Respond to questions from internal customers and suppliers about order status, changes, or cancellations.
- Verify that received items meet specifications and arrive on time.
- Monitor and review purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices and payments for accuracy, conformance to purchasing and other policies and procedures to minimize risk.
- Confer with accounting and or suppliers to resolve problems e.g., quality, delivery, invoicing, rejections, damages, payments and credits between Company and Suppliers.
- Perform basic buying duties and assist with vendor negotiations.
- Participate in special projects, conducting special research , assist in creating training materials or departmental communications.
- Track raw material reporting on Expired Goods and Nearing Expiration.
- Communicate project cleanup list to ensure resolution of any excess stock
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED andsome college coursework in business, supply chain, logistics, or related fields helpful.
- Familiarity with office software (e.g., Excel, ERP systems like SAP or Net Suite) and basic math/accounting is a must.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
