Role Overview
The Procurement & Subcontract Specialist at Fluence is a mid-career professional responsible for driving sourcing and subcontracting activities across the sales and pre-execution phases of energy storage projects. With a strong foundation in procurement, this role owns end-to-end sourcing packages, contributing to competitive proposal development, cost accuracy, and supplier strategy.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, the specialist supports pricing development, supplier selection, and procurement assumptions, while ensuring alignment with regional and project requirements. This role also plays a key part in developing supplier relationships and driving efficient, scalable procurement practices.
Key Responsibilities
Own and deliver end-to-end sourcing packages in support of project proposals, ensuring timely and high-quality execution
Lead sourcing activities for EPC, BOP, and key equipment packages, including RFQ preparation, bid analysis, and supplier selection
Influence proposal competitiveness by driving cost accuracy, supplier strategy, and procurement assumptions
Manage RFQ processes end-to-end, including scope definition, commercial evaluation, and supplier recommendations
Support subcontract negotiations, with progression toward independently leading commercial and contractual discussions
Collaborate closely with Sales to support pricing development and proposal submissions
Partner with Engineering to ensure supplier proposals align with technical and project requirements
Contribute to pricing inputs (SOG) and procurement strategies for proposals and pipeline opportunities
Support supplier development, qualification, and relationship management aligned with regional procurement objectives
Maintain procurement data, dashboards, and reporting accuracy using SAP and other tools
Ensure compliance with Fluence procurement policies, procedures, and governance standards
Support demand planning activities through the issuance of purchase orders and letters of intent, as required
Required Qualifications & Experience
4–6 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or subcontract management within industrial, energy, or engineering environments
Proven experience managing RFQs, supplier selection, and sourcing activities end-to-end
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, detail-oriented approach
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence internal stakeholders and external suppliers
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Experience in energy storage, renewable energy, construction, or BESS projects
Exposure to EPC or BOP subcontracting environments
Experience with SAP S/4HANA or similar ERP systems
Experience supporting pricing, cost estimation, or proposal development activities
