ROLE SUMMARY
The RCMF is part of Chemical Research and Development (CRD), within Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule (PSSM), part of the Worldwide Research, Development and Medicinal Sciences (WRDM) organization. The RCMF will scale up new clinical products developed in our CRD laboratory at our research site in the U.S. (Groton, Connecticut) and will tech transfer successful new products from the RCMF to our commercial manufacturing site in Ringaskiddy.
The Procurement & Business Support Specialist will be required to serve as the strategic interface between Procurement, CRD Manufacturing and business stakeholders, ensuring effective sourcing, supplier management, and alignment with operational and financial objectives. This key operational role focuses on delivering measurable value through strong stakeholder engagement, compliant procurement practices, and continuous improvement initiatives within a regulated environment.
The position incorporates a variety of administration and business support duties essential for the effective operation of the RCMF facility. These tasks support the overall functionality and day-to-day management of the site, ensuring that organizational processes run smoothly and efficiently.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Translate business requirements into sourcing strategies and procurement execution plans
- Support the full procurement lifecycle, including purchase requisitions, purchase order creation, tracking, and invoice resolution
- Act as the primary procurement partner for assigned business units (Operations, R&D, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain) to support material availability and operational needs
- Support demand planning and ensure alignment between supply availability and operational needs
- Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, compliance, and service performance
- Manage supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify and mitigate supply risks to ensure continuity of supply
- Ensure procurement activities comply with Pfizer policies, GMP requirements, and global standards
- Support purchase order lifecycle, contract management, and documentation accuracy
- Partner with Quality and EHS to ensure supplier and material compliance
- Assist with contract and documentation management, ensuring audit readiness and regulatory compliance
- Provide business support for site operations, including coordination and tracking of key activities to ensure smooth and efficient execution of operational priorities
- Analyse spending data to identify cost savings and value creation opportunities
- Contribute to process standardization, efficiency improvements, and digital tool adoption
- Contribute to cross‑site or global procurement continuous improvement projects
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing and administrative support within a regulated environment (pharma, biotech, or manufacturing preferred)
- Familiarity with procurement systems and ERP tools (e.g. Ariba)
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy
- Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Understanding compliance requirements (e.g. GMP, quality standards) is an advantage
