The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Procurement Agent. Responsible for processing assigned requisitions; analyze, evaluate, and edit specifications to ensure compliance with MDT, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations. This position determines and executes proper procurement method, and issues purchase orders or contracts. Responsible for contract monitoring throughout the life of the contract. Provide technical assistance to contractors and MDT staff, and provide training on procurement policies, laws, and regulations to MDT staff. This position reports to the Procurement Section Supervisor and does not supervise others. This position is part of a career ladder with career advancement opportunities.

Required Education and Experience:
· Level 1.1 - $31.39 per hour\: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field. OR 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
· Level 2.1 - $33.76 per hour\: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field. 2 years of experience in governmental purchasing or contract administration, or a related field.
· Alternative combinations of related experience or education may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of contract administration and ability to learn state purchasing regulations and policies.
Skills in writing, evaluating, checking, and editing plans, specifications, contract provisions, and other details.
Skill in analyzing plans and specifications; and communicating technical information with widely varied audiences.
Ability to establish and effectively maintain files and documentation pertaining to purchasing activity.
