Position Description

Perform studies regarding the Company's utility rate structure and utility economics. Develop pricing proposals in support of proper cost recovery for UniSource and its affiliates.  Perform financial analysis necessary to develop and recommend pricing options for energy-related services.  Work with various departments to establish pricing options, coordinate contract development and closure, and satisfy regulatory requirements.

Position-Related Responsibilities

• Performs studies regarding the Company's utility rate structure requirements such as long‑run incremental and marginal cost studies, annualized and normalized adjustments to income statements and balance sheets, calculations of revenues under present and proposed rates, etc. for an electric and gas utility.

• Develop knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures required for submission and approval of new rate plans and product offerings.  Help develop effective retail contracts and ensure closure with other departments.

• Prepares or assists in the preparation of other financial and statistical exhibits and analyses, reports and studies (such as fuel forecasts, demand and energy forecasts, revenue and sales data, test metering analysis, line losses, etc.).

• Assists in performing analytical studies related to forecasting the Company's sales and revenues, and performing analytical studies related to the Company's actual sales and revenue results.

• Prepares or assists in the preparation of regulatory filings and written testimony and exhibits (for the Arizona Corporation Commission, FERC, etc.).

• Develop and demonstrate knowledge and expertise in power pricing principles.  Review and understand recent or significant retail contracts. Performs the design of retail utility rates which will be subject to regulatory approval.

• Work closely with other departments to develop a complete understanding of energy markets and to develop expertise in energy pricing principles and practices.

• Performs studies to evaluate the cost of service to classes of customers to determine the allocations of rates to customers.  Performs cost of service analysis by unbundled functions.  Develop an understanding of essential commercial and industrial accounts.

• Develop and maintain a database of all relevant customer data such as contract term, revenue, rate structure, load profile, peak demand, metering, significant services, and future needs, as the basis for structuring targeted price options.  

• Develop and maintain an understanding of Company strategy and economic goals.

• Establish regular communications with other departments to effectively develop targeted pricing options and bundled/unbundled rates.

• Develop a full understanding of utility tariffs, products, services, product margins, and price assumptions.

• Determine leverage potential for each product or service and demonstrate resultant margin or profit in recommended solutions.

• This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

(Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, applied mathematics or business or equivalent related degree.

Knowledge of basic financial analysis

Demonstrated analytical and innovation skills.

Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work closely with other departments.

Demonstrated skill in use of personal computer applications including Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the utility industry with exhibited technical competence
