Location: Austin, TX (Corporate Headquarters located in the Domain)

Summary: Citizens is looking for a resourceful, detail-oriented, Premium Accounting Specialist with exceptional skills in customer service to join our accounting team. This position performs entry level accounting transactions and data entry with a high degree of accuracy. Attention to detail is a must. The work involves various accounting related activities, primarily organizing, entering and reconciling insurance premium receipts.
WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO
1. Premium Master Record Management
- Maintains an accurate and efficient Premium Master Record (PMR) based upon premium information supplied from external customers and other departments of the Company.
2. Premium Accounting
- Reconcile and balance premium accounting transactions daily.
- Process and record any returned premium accounting transactions.
- Process, input and monitor premium receipts including wire transfers following appropriate internal control guidelines.
3. Discrepancy Resolution
- Assess, research and correct premium accounting discrepancies. Collaborate with other members of the Accounting team or Company as needed.
- Reviews, researches and resolves assigned suspense items in a timely manner.
4. Financial Reporting
- Assist with monthly explanation of assigned policy accounting monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Some education in accounting or 1-2 years of experience in an accounting environment.
- General understanding of accounting principles and accounting techniques.
- Experience with premium accounting in a life insurance company.
- Ability to input a large number of accounting transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to calculate discounts, interests, percentages and proportions.
- Ability to address issues and concerns in a professional and effective manner.
- Ability to use or obtain necessary resources to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.
- Ability to meet critical business deadlines with a strong sense of urgency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English and Spanish (Preferred).
