Plant Accountant

Location: Arkansas City, KS

Work Setting: 100% onsite in a manufacturing facility

Compensation: $68,000 – $78,000

Position Summary

The Plant Accountant is a key contributor responsible for supporting the financial operations of a high-growth manufacturing facility. This role focuses on plant-level accounting activities including month-end close, inventory tracking, and financial analysis tied directly to production operations.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with operations teams. The Plant Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting decision-making, and maintaining alignment with corporate finance standards.

What You’ll Do

• Execute full month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
• Manage inventory accounting, including tracking, reconciliation, and variance analysis
• Analyze production and MRO variances and provide insights to improve financial performance
• Maintain accuracy of plant financials and support reporting requirements
• Partner cross-functionally with production, engineering, and inventory control teams
• Support operational decision-making through financial analysis and reporting
• Work within ERP systems (e.g., Lawson, SAP, or similar platforms)
• Utilize Excel extensively for reporting, tracking, and analysis
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting standards

What You Bring

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred or in progress
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience (plant or cost accounting preferred)
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, data analysis, and reporting)
• Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Lawson, Great Plains, or similar)
• Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing/plant environment
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to adapt quickly and learn new systems and processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or plant accounting environments
• Background in cost accounting or inventory accounting
• Experience in food, dairy, or aseptic manufacturing industries
• Prior experience partnering with operations or production teams
