The Big PictureWe’re seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist with experience in physician billing to support our revenue cycle operations. In this role, you’ll ensure accurate, compliant claim submission and timely reimbursement while serving as a key resource for resolving billing issues. What You’ll Do
Charge & Claim Management: Review and process provider charges, ensuring accurate coding alignment (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) before claim submission. Claims Submission: Prepare and submit clean claims to commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicaid, ensuring compliance with payer-specific guidelines. Accounts Receivable (AR): Monitor claim status, post payments and adjustments, and aggressively follow up on unpaid or denied claims. Denials & Appeals: Investigate denials, identify root causes, and submit timely corrections or appeals to maximize reimbursement. Patient Billing: Generate patient statements and respond to billing inquiries with clarity and professionalism. Data Accuracy & Compliance: Maintain accurate billing records while adhering to healthcare regulations and payer requirements. Reporting: Track AR aging, denial trends, and reimbursement metrics; provide insights to improve revenue cycle performance.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: 2+ years in physician billing, medical billing, or healthcare revenue cycle-experience with hospice billing is a plus! Coding Knowledge: Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems (certification like CPC is a plus). Payer Knowledge: Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing rules and workflows. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and experience with EHR/PM systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or similar billing platforms). Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in coding, charge entry, and claim review. Communication: Ability to clearly explain billing issues to patients, providers, and payers. Organization: Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize high-volume workloads and meet deadlines.
