Summary

The Procurement Technician is responsible for ensuring timely and high quality work from the pharmacy technician staff as well as procurement of all prescription and non prescription medications and supplies, inventory control, and pharmaceutical waste disposal for VA Butler Healthcare's Pharmacy Service. Employees at this grade level must be certified by the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements for appointment, VA HR staff must use the following criteria to determine the appropriate grade assignment of candidates.
Pharmacy Technician (Procurement/Inventory), GS-09: Preferred Experience: Previous experience with pharmacy ordering and procurement.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
