Position Specific Summary

The Payroll Technician position at the City of Tucson’s Human Resources Department is responsible for supporting the organization’s payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

Worked is performed under the supervision of the Payroll Supervisor. This position does not supervise.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

6 months post high school

Experience

Two (2) years of relevant experience

Equivalency

Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

License/Certifications

Preferred Qualifications

Education: 6 months post high school
Experience: Two (2) years of relevant experience
License/Certifications: A valid and unrestricted driver’s license with two (2) years of licensed driving is required.
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Payroll and Timekeeping systems
Experience in Data Entry and/or Accounting
Intermediate level experience with Excel
Work experience in Human Resources (HR) field
