    Position/Title: Payroll Specialist
    Qualifications:
    A. High School Diploma
    B. Junior college and/or BA in accounting preferred
    C. Previous payroll and school accounting background preferred
    D. Financial software experience as well as Microsoft software spreadsheet experience preferred
    E. Candidates should also be adept at calculations and show the ability to produce accurate and timely work and to exhibit a professional and helpful attitude when assisting member district personnel.
    Direct Supervisor: Assistant Superintendent of Business, CSBO
    Overview: The Payroll Specialist position is a twelve-month position, responsible for completing scheduled payrolls for all SEDOL employees. Responsibilities also include filing of quarterly, calendar and fiscal year-end reports, TRS and IMRF pension reports and other required payroll reports. This position assists with audits by outside firms or agencies and with any other activities of the Business Office.
    Performance Responsibilities:
    1. Accurate and timely preparation and distribution of scheduled payrolls and all other required quarterly, calendar and fiscal year reports, including retirement reports, quarterly reports, W-2 reporting and calculation of "life over 50" imputed wage. Set up or oversee set-up of paycodes, deductions and change tax rates / limits as required.
    2. At the beginning of each new contract period initiate, enter, calculate and process all new pay related data. Calculate and process payroll for all new hires or employees who terminate during the year.
    3. Comply with all appropriate Federal/State tax laws and retirement laws in preparing each payroll. Implement labor contract language and/or district procedure as directed by Administration.
    4. Customer service focused communication related to sharing necessary Exceptional Services for Exceptional Students payroll information with personnel and business offices on an ongoing basis. Respond to incoming communications from employees and others in a professional and timely manner.
    5. In conjunction with the Employee Benefits Clerk, coordinate deductions stipulated by labor contracts, State and Federal regulations and administrative directions for each payroll.
    6. Maintain accurate, organized and up to date histories and information to support validity of individual payroll checks.
    7. Other assignments as directed by the Assistant Superintendent of Business
    Salary Range: $71,971 - $89,882 dependent on years of education and experience.
