Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll accurately for exempt and non-exempt employees observing labor regulations, CBA requirements and standard accounting principles.
- Maintain and update employee timecards, shift schedules and PTO balances in ADP eTime, and other related administrative duties.
- Investigate and resolve payroll questions from all departments. Serve as a point of contact for ADP regarding wage payments, tax related issues.
- Input new hire information including time position information and benefit enrollments.
- Assist with process improvements and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Enter, verify and transmit all payroll changes for 32BJ Union members, including, but not limited to, hourly rate changes and job title changes.
- Prepare monthly and weekly payment vouchers for benefit contributions for 6 bargaining units.
- Analyze unused deduction report from previous payroll and record missing deductions into current payroll as necessary.
- Review unemployment benefits statements for accuracy and legitimacy.
- Assist Senior Payroll Manager and Payroll Supervisor as needed.
- Work closely with the Human Resources Department on employee leave of absence, return to work status and follow up on new hire paperwork if needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and controls and interpret collective bargaining agreements that may affect payroll procedures.
- Assist with time clock enrollment, troubleshooting/rebooting.
- Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Work Experience and Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in similar role
- Working knowledge of modern payroll software; ADP Workforce & ADP Enterprise eTime, preferred
- MS Excel (Pivot Tables, formulas and filters) and MS Word
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and client service skills, including the ability to establish andmaintain cooperative working relationships, and to deal tactfully and courteously with employeesacross the Corporation.
- Solid research skills
- Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with various Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
- Action oriented – willing to accept new challenges.
Physical Requirements:
Persons performing service in this position classification may routinely exert up to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This type of work will involve regular walking or standing for extended periods of time. It may involve stooping or bending. Handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
