Purpose of Position:
Provide timely and accurate payroll processing, maintaining the payroll systems and related data to comply with applicable federal, state and local regulatory reporting requirements and corporate guidelines and provide customer service to employees, management, benefit partners and government agencies.
Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate the organization’s work flow such that all payroll transactions (standard and manual) are processed accurately and assist the general ledger team with payroll-related reconciliation issues
- Cooperatively partner with management, finance department and human resources to research evaluate, analyze and adopt policies and procedures that impact process improvements
- Proactively communicate with employees concerning payroll questions and confidently communicate payroll and benefit rules regulations and policies
- Monitor the payment of payroll liabilities, process reports and develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting when necessary
- Continue personal and professional development to enhance job related competency; participate in educational sessions and training required for software systems and taxations rulings
- Prepare all payroll related tax reports including quarterly 941s, State of Alaska ESC, W-2s, Form 990, while maintaining IRS files in a logical and organized manner which allows for timely retrieval of records
- Perform other duties as assigned
