This positionis is responsible for performing a variety of technical and professional duties involved in the processing of Tulane’s bi-weekly and monthly payrolls. Maintains payroll systems and processes paychecks according to schedule and in the correct amount, ensuring payroll processes comply with state, federal, and local regulations. Implements best practices as regulations change and researches and resolves complex, non-routine problems. This position may provide guidance and direction to less experienced payroll practitioners and oversee their daily work.

• Technical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of contemporary principles of payroll management, which includes payroll federal and state laws, regulations, methods, and techniques. 
• Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one’s job; ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex payroll issues; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.
• Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.
• Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:
• Associate’s Degree 
• At least 7 years of experience directly related to payroll duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualification:
• Bachelor’s Degree 
• FPC or CPP Designation
• Experience using Oracle and UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) time and attendance, formerly Kronos, software
