Payroll Specialist

Full-time Hourly - 1st Shift, Onsite

Hours of Job

• Full-time – 80 hours per pay period
• 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• No weekends or holidays required

Duties and Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll information including the maintenance of employee demographic and deduction information.  Ensure the accurate and timely payment of all Grand Lake Health System employees.
• Withhold and remit taxes and garnishments in accordance with the applicable authoritative agency’s regulations.  Withhold and remit employee elected benefit deductions as provided through Human Resources Policies.
• Prepare tax returns for payroll taxes, sales taxes and CAT taxes, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements.
• Responsible for preparing and distributing internal managerial payroll & productivity reports to area work leaders.
• Assist employees to understand payroll calculations and deductions, investigating problems and making appropriate corrections when necessary.
• Compile statistical and accounting information from payroll as requested.
• In conjunction with Human Resources, develop, maintain, and revise payroll procedures in written format as required.
• Assist in other accounting duties.

Education/Certifications

• Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred

Experience

• Proficient computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet packages
• Sufficient previous experience in payroll processing
• Strong communication skills to deal with other employees
