The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for employees across Canada and the United States, supporting a positive employee experience and strong financial controls. With a focus on precision, confidentiality, and continuous improvement, this role manages end-to-end payroll activities, partners with People & Culture and Finance to resolve complex pay scenarios, and maintains effective relationships with external providers to ensure payroll, remittances, and reporting obligations are consistently met.
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian and US payroll rules/legislation and employment legislation required, particularly British Columbia, Texas, New York and California
- Business Administration Diploma or Degree or similar from an accredited university or college
- Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation (or equivalent) is considered an asset
- Experience with benefits programs such as 401(k) plans and RRSP
- ADP and Xero platforms is an advantage but not essential
- Organizational, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills, working with various internal and external stakeholders
- High attention to detail
- Experience in cross-border payroll for both Canada and the US is highly desirable
- Ability to prioritise and work effectively under tight deadlines, be independent and work in a collaborative group-oriented environment with the help of sound judgement in decision-making processes
- Ability to work in a structured and documented way, and proactively assess and reduce risk
- Proficient with Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
