Position: Payroll Specialist
Location: MSEAC
Schedule: 12 Month, 7:30-4:30 pm, Monday-Friday
Position Available: As Soon As Possible
Compensation:
- Starting range is $24.49 - $26.77, $26.77 - $29.56 if bilingual in English/Spanish

JOB TITLE: Payroll Specialist
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible payroll, accounting, finance, or human resources experience preferred
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered in lieu of the preferred educational requirement
Certification/Licensure:
- None Required
Other Requirements:
- Work twelve (12) months a year.
- Knowledge of federal and state wage and tax laws
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, 10-key, and keyboarding
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform all duties related to payroll record keeping; compile, organize, tabulate, and file data
- Meet schedules and deadlines
- Complete work with many interruptions
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to examine and verify documents
- High ability to work independently
- Ability to research payroll related issues
REPORTS TO: Director of Accounting
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare monthly, supplemental, and retroactive payrolls
- Process electronic and paper timesheets
- Maintain all records connected with payroll deductions including insurance, taxes, retirement, and all other deductions
- Post and process garnishments
- Generate quarterly and year-end payroll reports, including 941’s and W-2’s
- Prepare monthly billings for insurance and other payroll deductions
- Answer client payroll questions
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality regarding payroll functions and employee records information
- Reconcile payroll accounts payable and monthly bank statement
- Learn and work effectively in multiple software programs (e.g. School ERP Pro, TCP, Powerschool Records, Selerix, Red Rover, etc.)
- Help with specific projects as directed and perform other duties as assigned

Work requires a good knowledge of common payroll practices which involves a high degree of independent judgement and confidentiality. The job includes keeping informed of District policies, wage and hour and tax rules and regulations. The Payroll Associate should demonstrate personal professionalism and integrity.
