The Borough of Tenafly (Bergen County) is seeking a qualified and experienced full-time Payroll Specialist/Confidential Executive Assistant/Website content assistant, reporting directly to the Borough Administrator. The Borough has a population of 15.5 thousand and an operating Budget of $38 million, with payroll for about 165 employees. The Borough has a bi-monthly payroll - the 15th of the month and the last day of the month. The Borough has moved to automating portions of payroll through the iSolved software, with the goal of integrating the police department's POS system and employee self-service.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to preparation of bi-monthly payroll through the iSolved software, employee pension contribution deductions for New Jersey PFRS, PERS, and DCRP, employee health insurance premium deductions, employee deferred compensation deductions and transmittal to approved 457B plans, calculations for longevity, and other calculations required by Borough Policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements, as approved by the Borough Administrator. Confidential payroll, budget, and CBA and confidential related duties as assigned by the Borough Administrator. responsibility for Borough website content updates, including the need to remotely update the website with immediate information for the public. Experience with iSolved, NJ PFRS, PERS, DCRP, employee pre-tax deductions, and 457B deferred compensation plans are preferred but not required. In lieu of specific NJ municipal government payroll experience, 3+ years of payroll experience with an Associate's degree or a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field is required. Also, experience maintaining and updating website content is preferred.
Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be organized, detail-oriented and a team player. Proficient with iSolved, employee pre-tax deductions, and 457B deferred compensation plans are preferred, but not required. Job title and salary will commensurate with educational background and experience.
