Position Summary
Alloy Drilling is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage accurate and timely payroll processing for our growing, multistate workforce. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in ADP Workforce Now and have experience administering payroll across multiple states. Experience in the mining, drilling, construction, or a related field-based industry is preferred.
This is a hybrid position that requires strong organizational skills, confidentiality, accuracy, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing employee schedules, job locations, and payroll requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accurate and timely multistate payroll using ADP Workforce Now.
- Review employee timesheets, pay rates, per diem, bonuses, incentives, deductions, reimbursements, and other payroll-related information.
- Verify payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
- Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, promotions, pay changes, tax elections, and direct deposit information.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Process payroll for employees working across multiple projects, locations, and states.
- Coordinate with supervisors and management to obtain missing or corrected timekeeping information.
- Review payroll reports and complete payroll reconciliations.
- Assist with payroll tax notices, wage garnishments, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation reporting, and employment verification requests.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 review and reconciliation.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
- Work closely with Human Resources, Accounting, Operations, and field supervisors.
- Assist with payroll-related audits and reporting as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency with ADP Workforce Now is required.
- Previous experience processing multistate payroll is preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, wage and hour requirements, deductions, and payroll compliance.
- Mining, drilling, construction, industrial, or field-services payroll experience is preferred.
- Experience with per diem, shift differentials, bonuses, incentives, and travel pay.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with employees and management at all levels.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, human resources, or a related field is preferred.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $25.00–$33.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated proficiency with ADP Workforce Now.
