Payroll Officer

The Opportunity

Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.

Reporting to the Finance Services Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the timely preparation and processing of Council's weekly pay cycle in accordance with Council's policies, procedures and relevant legislative and taxation requirements. The Payroll Officer is also responsible for preparing and processing superannuation contributions for all Council employees and processing any approved salary sacrifice deductions as per Council's standard working procedure. 

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

• Prepare and process Council's weekly payroll functions
• Maintain Council's payroll system and employee records
• Prepare superannuation contributions
• Process termination pay's
• Maintain the salary sacrifice process in accordance with Council's standard working procedure
• Process individual payment summaries on an annual basis
• Develop rostered day off schedule for indoor and outdoor staff
• Report on changes to legislation
• Additional payroll related duties

About you

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

• Minimum of two years experience in the end-to-end payroll process
• Thorough knowledge of employment conditions, superannuation and taxation requirements
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
• Experience processing electronic timesheets and reports
• Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines
• Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
• Excellent communication skills including both verbal and written communication. 
• Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Work Health and Safety
• Demonstrated commitment to honesty and integrity

In addition, an ideal candidate would have an understanding of the Local Government State Award, experience using payroll specific software such as Technology One/CIAnywhere, and experience in the coordination of salary packaging and employment contracts.

• Between $1,403.60 and $1,587.69 per week, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience.Additional remuneration may be available for an exceptional candidate.
