Starting salary: $79,040 annually
SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely compensation for a diverse workforce, including hourly, salaried, and tipped employees. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and tribal laws. Provide supervision, direction, and support to payroll team members. Responsible for a high level of guest service as described in your department’s guest service standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all casino employees using UKG Pro/WFM
- Serve as hands-on, subject matter expert for UKG Pro/WFM and related modules, as applicable
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, tribal, and gaming commission regulations
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accuracy of new hires, transfers, employee wages, benefit deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting, payroll funding, and tax withholding payments
- Complete payroll reconciliations and generate payroll journal entries
- Review and reconcile payroll tax reports, including W-2s, and quarterly filings
- Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies with discretion and professionalism
- Compile and create spreadsheets or reports for internal and external business partners
- Prepare and file annual IRS Forms 8027
- Prepare work papers for the annual 401k audit
- Coordinate with IRS to maintain the Tip Rate Determination Agreement
- Hire, schedule, train, delegate tasks, direct daily work activities to ensure adequate coverage, and inspect completed work for conformance to standards
- Supervise and mentor payroll staff, ensure their professional growth and optimize team performance, evaluate staff and conduct performance reviews
- Implement and maintain effective procedures, audits, and record-keeping systems to ensure efficiency, data accuracy, and accessibility
- Manage relationships with payroll service providers and other external partners to ensure service quality and cost effectiveness
- Collaborate with the I.T. department for payroll system changes and testing
- Complete special projects as requested, and perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and Certification
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, H/R, or related field
- 5+ years of payroll experience, preferably in the hospitality or gaming industry
- Proven experience using UKG software (UKG Pro, WFM, or similar modules)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities
Preferred:
- Experience in processing a weekly payroll for 1000+ employees
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time with infrequent amounts of walking and standing
- Must have a good sense of balance, and be able to bend, kneel and stoop infrequently
- Must be able to reach and twist infrequently
- Must be able to push, pull and grasp objects occasionally
- Must have the ability to independently lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions
- Must have good eye hand coordination
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Work is performed primarily in administration building but may include going onto the gaming floor, which includes flashing lights, frequent loud noises and cigarette smoke
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including all shifts, weekends and holidays
- Extensive computer use
- Occasionally overtime may be required
- Occasionally must deal with angry or hostile individuals
