Job Summary:
The Payroll Manager ensures the timely handling of payroll, personnel information, compliance with state and federal garnishment laws, and the confidentiality of all associate payroll information. This role identifies and implements process improvements, oversees executive compensation payouts, manages year-end processes, and handles abandoned property processes. Additionally, the Payroll Manager is responsible for developing and coaching staff to ensure their technical and professional growth. They manage the overall administration of payroll functions for all domestic chains, including stores, distribution centers, district offices, and the home office.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Payroll Operations and Processing:
Oversee the timely and accurate execution of daily, weekly and monthly tasks of the Payroll Processing teams
Review weekly accuracy of the time & attendance system
Work with internal and external auditors on SOX testing and compliance, maintaining SOX matrices and documentation for payroll.
Oversee executive compensation payouts and reporting, coordinating with corporate tax, corporate accounting, and compensation teams.
Manage year-end processes, including job scheduling, electronic W-2 notifications, and imputed earnings for tax gross-ups.
Act as liaison to the W-2 service provider.
Systems and Process Improvements:
Oversee systems business plan projects and objectives, managing the testing and implementation of new systems or system enhancements.
Communicate with the systems team to review and address issues related to payroll.
Provide direction and support in the development of systemic and process improvements.
Who We’re Looking for: You.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or equivalent job experience.
5+ years of payroll or equivalent operational accounting experience at a supervisory level.
Strong knowledge of and ability to interpret payroll and employment tax laws.
Expertise in executing effective internal controls.
Functional knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Prior experience leading teams in a dynamic, fast paced environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead a team in prioritizing tasks and delivering results while handling multiple priorities in a constantly evolving environment

Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
