Payroll Clerk
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Clerk to support the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining payroll records, verifying timesheets, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. This role requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll on a regular schedule (weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly)
- Review and verify employee timesheets, attendance records, and wage calculations
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and benefits
- Assist with the administration of tax withholdings, direct deposits, and employee benefits
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies, deductions, and payments
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and company policies
- Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits and reconciliations
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll-related issues
- Update employee information in payroll systems as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and employee data
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred)
- 1–3 years of payroll, accounting, or administrative experience
- Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms
- Basic understanding of payroll regulations and tax requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing
- Prior experience in a remote or distributed work environment
- Knowledge of accounting principles or bookkeeping
Work Schedule
Flexible schedule aligned with standard business hours (Monday–Friday). Additional hours may be required during payroll processing periods or audits.
