Job Summary
The Payroll Clerk works under direct supervision of the Business Manager and the HR Director and performs complex financial and administrative tasks to ensure the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for school department staff in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position requires an individual who possesses exceptional spreadsheet skills (Excel), and the ability to manage information with the utmost confidentiality and integrity.
This is an hourly position with flexible scheduling around district needs.
Essential Job Functions
Calculate, verify, and execute bi-weekly payrolls for district employees.
Review timesheets and electronic timecards for accuracy. Ensure Supervisor approval.
Confirm overtime calculations, and correct account charging.
Enter status changes, salary increases, degree changes, transfers, and union-contracted wage adjustments into the system.
Maintain proficiency for utilization of the district platform (Paychex Flex) to input all payroll data and information.
Process retirement deductions and manage file transfers to ERSRI, TIAA, and OMNI.
Manage employee voluntary deductions (403(b)/451 annuity plans, health/dental premiums, union dues) as well as mandatory wage garnishments.
Interpret bargaining agreements and administrative staff contracts regarding pay rates and stipends.
Support the Business Manager and HR Director with payroll information related to the Budget process.
Support the Business Manager and HR Director with quarterly reports and annual audits.
Support the HR Director with annual payroll system roll-over.
Create and maintain a system and procedure for long-term payroll records archival.
