Full-Time and Permanent; 7.5 Hours/Day; 252 Days/Year; 12 Months/Year; Grade II

General Responsibilities

This is specialized clerical work involving the processing of payroll information.  An employee in this class is responsible for producing and distributing all payroll disbursements in an accurate and timely manner.  The work includes entering pertinent employee payroll data into computerized files; making appropriate calculations pertinent to the payroll process; and communicating with departmental  personnel. Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Operations Supervisor.  Incumbent works on assigned tasks without close supervision. Responsibilities include compiling documents to create payroll for data entry, keying payroll worksheet, verifying data entry of payroll worksheets, answering questions, resolving problems and assisting employees with payroll needs.  

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited high school, supplemented by some experience with computer keyboard and terminals, applicable payroll software processing and procedures, and the use of typewriter and calculator; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above noted knowledge, skill and ability.

Work involves exposure to normal, everyday risks in an office environment.  Hazards include problems arising from continuous keyboard usage and exposure to a computer terminal CRT.

Work requires a very high degree of accuracy and is subject to constant deadlines, frequent interruptions, and stressful situations.
