Clinton Public Schools is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Payroll/Benefit Specialist to support business office and human resource functions by managing the district's payroll processes, administering employee benefits, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and district policies.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Associate Degree or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred
- Minimum of 2-3 years of payroll and/or accounting experience, with strong preference for experience in a public school system
- Thorough knowledge of payroll principles and practices
- Knowledge of federal and state payroll tax regulations
- Understanding of wage and hour laws
- Familiarity with retirement systems and employee benefits administration
- Ability to interpret collective bargaining agreements
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and payroll software
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting strict deadlines
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience with eFinancePLUS is desired
Position Details:
- Start Date: October 2026
- 12-month, full-time position
- 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (40 paid hours per week)
- Non-union; position works under Terms of Employment
- Personal, Sick and Vacation leave as well as paid holidays
- Eligible for enrollment in non-certified pension plan
- Qualifies for health/dental benefits
- Salary of $65,000-$72,000, commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated expertise
