JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Payroll Assistant
Reports to: Treasurer
Employment Status: Regular/Part-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Description: Assists in processing payroll and related functions. Works with the Treasurer and payroll staff to meet all office requirements and deadlines while ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
Essential Functions:
- Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
- Has a legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
- Shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District
- Maintain records as they relate to payroll, absences, and employee information
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all personnel and payroll information
- Assist with processing new hires and employee status changes
- Support FMLA tracking and compliance
- Process post-payroll payments and corrections
- Assist in payroll data entry and verification
- Support preparation of reports for STRS, SERS, IRS
- Assist auditors with documentation
- Assist with W-2 preparation and year-end tasks
- Maintain payroll files per retention requirements
- Coordinate with HR for employee data accuracy
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Treasurer
