ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a detail-oriented payroll professional to join our HR team. You will process payroll and coordinate leave programs for our retail and corporate workforce, serve as the employee resource for routine payroll and leave questions, and support the Head of HR on projects as needed. This role is execution-focused � you will follow established processes and know when to escalate. This position reports directly to the Head of HR.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees using ADP Workforce Now
- Reconcile time and attendance data and resolve discrepancies before payroll cutoff
- Handle off-cycle adjustments, garnishments, and corrections as directed
- Process and track leave requests including FMLA, Illinois Paid Leave, workers' compensation, short-term disability, and PTO
- Coordinate workers' compensation claim documentation with the insurance carrier under HR leadership direction
- Answer routine employee payroll and leave questions; escalate complex situations to the Head of HR
- Support W-2 preparation, ACA reporting, new hire payroll setup, and HR reporting as needed

REQUIREMENTS

- 3+ years of payroll processing experience with degree; 5+ years of payroll processing experience without a degree
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or a comparable enterprise payroll platform
- Working knowledge of FMLA, Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act, workers' compensation, and federal/state wage and hour law
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
- Clear communication skills; able to explain pay and leave matters to employees at all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

PREFERRED

- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or Business Administration
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
- Experience supporting hourly, retail, or multi-location workforces

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

Pay rate: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour, dependent on experience
This is a non-exempt, hourly position eligible for overtime pay.
Minimum 30 hours per week. Standard business hours; additional hours may be required during payroll cycles and year-end.
