Position Summary
Durus Industrial is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Employee Operations Specialist — Construction Payroll to support weekly payroll and employee operations for a construction workforce. This role is payroll-first, with responsibility for payroll processing, time data review, ADP Workforce Now workflows, HeavyJob time review, payroll deductions, benefits administration support, employee records, reporting, certified payroll, LCP Tracker maintenance, and prevailing wage workflow controls. The role supports employee lifecycle administration but is not designed as a traditional HR generalist position. The updated matrix defines the role as an execution and process-ownership position, while leadership retains final authority over position standards, salary range determinations, classification/grading standardization, promotion approvals, and company policy decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations
- Process weekly payroll in ADP WFN, including retroactive pay, commissions, bonuses, severance, overtime, salary calculations, prevailing wage calculation reviews, reimbursements, holiday pay, PTO/sick, and payroll submission.
- Maintain payroll records, submit GL data to Sage, and complete requested payroll reporting.
- Administer payroll deductions and payment workflows for taxes, wage garnishments, benefits, 401k, HSA, and related transmissions.
Time Data & Systems
- Review daily and weekly time data in HCSS HeavyJob, balance straight time/overtime, and manage imports to Sage and IDI/Contractor Central.
- Confirm employee data syncs into Sage and HeavyJob and support system data accuracy across ADP WFN, HCSS HeavyJob, Sage, IDI, Employee Navigator, and LCP Tracker.
Employee Lifecycle Operations
- Support ADP WFN hiring and onboarding workflows, including job posting support, applicant review, interview coordination, offer workflow support, background screen processing, health screening scheduling, onboarding paperwork review, state/federal portal entry, Employee Navigator entry, Cobra entry, time-off policy assignment, and worked/lived-state setup.
- Process employee position reassignment, manager transfer, termination coordination, and employee-operation workflow updates according to matrix-defined authority and backup/reviewer controls.
Benefits, Deductions & Employee Records
- Maintain Employee Navigator data, send benefits welcome communications, process life events, coordinate benefits enrollment with carriers, and maintain tax/contact updates.
- Maintain employee records, employee files, E-I9 records, payroll records, and verifications in the designated systems and locations.
Compliance, Certified Payroll & Prevailing Wage
- Own certified payroll reporting in IDI and LCP Tracker maintenance as process owner, with Finance as backup/reviewer.
- Support prevailing wage determination review, manage pre-submission approval workflow, and support prevailing wage table maintenance according to the matrix-defined ownership split.
- Support workers’ compensation case management, workers’ compensation audits, disability claim reporting, and employee assistance program administration.
Execution vs. Decision Authority
This role is responsible for accurate execution, data review, process ownership, and workflow administration. Leadership retains final authority for standardized position requirements, salary range determinations, classification/grading standards, salary decisions based on position standards, promotion approval, company policy development, and safety policy ownership.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll processing, payroll administration, or employee operations experience.
- Experience using payroll and/or employee data systems such as ADP WFN or equivalent.
- Strong Excel, reporting, reconciliation, and data accuracy skills.
- Ability to manage confidential payroll, benefits, employee, garnishment, and compliance information.
- Ability to work onsite in Chandler, Arizona and meet weekly payroll deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction payroll experience.
- ADP WFN, HCSS HeavyJob, Sage, IDI/Contractor Central, Employee Navigator, BPAS, HSA Bank, SmartCompliance, or LCP Tracker experience.
- Certified payroll, prevailing wage, wage garnishment, benefits deduction, or multi-system payroll workflow experience.
