Payroll and Benefits Specialist

The Pittsgrove Township School District is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following

vacancy for the 2026-2027 school year:

PAYROLL & BENEFITS SPECIALIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma; courses in bookkeeping, accounting and business mathematics, preferred.
2. Demonstrated experience (e.g., 2+ years) working in a similar role focusing on payroll and/or benefits administration.
3. Proven ability to efficiently operate a computerized payroll system end-to-end, including data input, processing full payroll runs, generating required reports, and ensuring system backups and data integrity.
4. Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
5. Demonstrated proficiency in effective bookkeeping skills and utilizing software packages for data processing and automated office functions.
6. Exceptional interpersonal skills and professionalism required for frequent interaction with employees, department leaders, external vendors, and consultants.
7. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to compose clear and professional replies to routine correspondence.
8. Keen attention to detail with the ability to identify and promptly refer errors, discrepancies, or potential irregularities to supervisors.
9. Absolute commitment to handling all sensitive employee and organizational matters in a strictly confidential manner.
10. Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or resident alien status
11. Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver, or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment.

Employment Terms:  12 months.

Effective Date:   October 1, 2026

Salary & Benefits: Starting salary is $53,000, commensurate with experience. Full family health benefits provided.
