    Job Summary: Compiles payroll data to maintain payroll records by performing the following duties.

    Education and Experience: 

    • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintains confidentiality of information gained through the performance and location of the position.

    • Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, and retirement and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records.

    • Enters data into computer files, computes wages and deductions, and posts to payroll records and general ledger.

    • Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.

    • Visits with employees regarding changes, coordinates necessary paperwork and records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and annuity payments for each employee to update master payroll records.

    • Records data concerning transfer of employees between buildings.

    • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions, i.e., quarterly wage reports, 941 reports, annual W-2's, ACA Reporting, GASB 68 Retirement Audit, and annual retirement reports for teachers and non-teachers.

    • Keeps records of absences, leave pay and nontaxable wages.

    • Prepares and issues paychecks.

    • Supports HR Facilitator in verifying wages and employment of personnel upon request for purposes of unemployment benefits, loan applications, Missouri Division of Family Services, re-employment by other companies, etc.

    • Visits with ex-employees regarding COBRA, retiree insurance and benefits.

    • Calculates balance of contract salary on employees not fulfilling full year contracts.

    •  Pro-rates vacation (when applicable) and sick leave on less than one year employment and/or upon retirement.

    • Responsible for monthly transmittal of contributions from payroll deductions regarding health insurance, tax sheltered annuities, Cafeteria Plan, savings plans, Federal and State tax deposits, teacher retirement, and non-teacher retirement.

    • Oversees self insurance enrollment and billing. Maintains and collects fees from retired employees still enrolled in the district health insurance.

    • Process, maintain and track health insurance claims and rebates.
    • Maintains, reconciles and balances the insurance reserve account.
    • Other duties as assigned
