POSITION SCOPE:
The Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for the complete administration of payroll, benefits, and pension activities for Atikameksheng Anishnawbek. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll, benefit, and pension processing while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to federal and provincial legislation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A college diploma or university degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; or
- Five (5) or more years of experience in a First Nation finance office or similar accounting or bookkeeping environment
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or Payroll Management Certificate (considered an asset)
- Experience using Sage ACCPAC Accounting Software (considered an asset)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processing biweekly payroll, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, benefits, pensions, WSIB, CPP, EI, Income Tax, union deductions (where applicable), and other statutory or voluntary withholdings
- Compiling, reviewing, and verifying payroll data from timesheets, leave records, and other source documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Entering payroll data, reviewing calculated wages and deductions, correcting errors, and maintaining accurate payroll master records
- Recording and maintaining changes affecting employee pay and benefits, including new hires, transfers, salary changes, exemptions, insurance coverage, banking information, and terminations
- Preparing and issuing employee pay statements and payroll deposits, including maintaining and updating electronic funds transfer (EFT) information
