NOW HIRING: Millerbernd Manufacturing is hiring a Payroll & Accounting Specialist for Millerbernd Manufacturing. The Payroll & Accounting Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll for 500+ employees and supporting general accounting functions. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, maintains financial records, and assists with reporting and reconciliations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in both payroll administration and accounting practices.
This is an onsite opportunity in Winsted, MN.
Title: Payroll & Accounting Specialist
Location: Winsted, MN
Salary Range: $28.05 - 33.00 per hour (Non-Exempt)

Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday – Friday 7am - 3pm
Shift Differential: 1st shift - N/A
As a Payroll & Accounting Specialist, you will:
Payroll
- Process and reconcile all bi-weekly payroll cycles
- Review and validate calculations for overtime, taxes, deductions, bonuses and other special payments
- Receive and analyze garnishments in compliance with all legal requirements
- Process one-time or permanent changes in payroll (e.g. new hires, terminations, salary increases, tax deductions, bonuses, expense reimbursements, direct deposit changes)
- Manage quarterly employer HSA contributions
- Process stop payments and electronic fund transfer reversals for payroll transactions
- Manage and communicate payroll inquiries and/or discrepancies quickly and efficiently
- Process various journal entries, account reconciliations and provide general ledger support
- Prepare upload file for 401(k) vendor to ensure posting to account and reconcile with payroll documents
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance workflow processes
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of HRIS platform
- Set up new states within ADP, report employee wages quarterly to various states for unemployment and submit payments
Accounting
- Process non-PO AP invoices through Epicor IDC/ECM
- Reconcile and create AP Invoice Entry in Epicor for employee expense/CC reports
- Submit payment and download benefit invoices
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger
- Perform account reconciliations (bank, credit card, payroll-related accounts)
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
DOT Filings
- Assist accountants with filing quarterly IFTA return, IFTA license renewal, HVUT filing, UCR registration, IRP renewal, MCS-150 form
Role Qualifications as a Payroll & Accounting Specialist:
- AS degree in business and/or 2-5 years in payroll processing
- Experience with payroll systems, ADP preferred
- Experience with Epicor a plus
- Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions within a set of guidelines with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll, wage withholding orders and garnishments
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Work independently to complete daily tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Accept and apply on the job training to advance your skill level
- Remain positive in challenging work environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively work and communicate within a team environment
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, work ethic, and high level of integrity
Work Environment: (office)
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk short distances. On occasion, the employee may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. While on the production floor, all employees are required to wear company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE).
