At Foundation Building Materials (FBM), we are looking for a detail-driven and motivated Payroll Analyst to join our fast-paced and growing Payroll team. As a key contributor, you’ll provide analytical insight to improve payroll accuracy and efficiency, collaborate across departments, and help streamline processes that directly enhance employee experience. Responsibilities and Qualifications
Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Strategy, Processing & Reconciliation- Oversee and execute all aspects of the multi-state payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate pay for employees
- Analyze and validate payroll data, identifying and resolving discrepancies with accuracy and discretion
- Partner with HR and Finance to maintain seamless data flow between systems and ensure compliance with internal controls
- Apply independent judgment to resolve complex payroll issues and interpret policy and regulatory requirements
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies
- Ensure compliance with payroll requirements, including tax filings, garnishments, and reporting
- Lead payroll-related audit preparation and support for internal and external audits
- Research and implement payroll process updates based on evolving legislation and best practices
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends, risks, and process improvement opportunities
- Create and deliver payroll-related reports and dashboards for Finance and HR leadership
- Serve as a payroll subject matter expert (SME) for employees and management
- Provide guidance on payroll policies, tax matters, and compliance-related questions
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve payroll accuracy and data integrity
- Evaluate and redesign payroll workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and controls
- Develop and maintain payroll standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Lead or support payroll-related projects, system upgrades, and testing initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Payroll and corporate objectives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required (or equivalent professional experience)
- 3+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state or multi-site organization
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and tax compliance
- Proficiency with payroll systems (Ceridian Dayforce preferred) and data analysis tools
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret large data sets
- Proven ability to exercise discretion and make independent decisions related to payroll matters
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Compensation and Benefits
Reports ToPayroll Manager CompensationThe listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and work location within state. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.- Base: $75,000 - $85,000 per year
- Bonus: 10% Target Bonus
- Total Compensation (Base + Bonus): The successful candidate could reasonably expect a Total Compensation Package in the range of $78,000 - $97,000
- Equity: This role is not eligible for equity opportunities, awards or grants
