Overview
This position is responsible for performing payroll and labor related financial functions. The ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must. This position will require interaction with all employee and management levels as well as frequent interaction with Human Resources, various agencies, and third-party providers.
Some, but not all, specific tasks to be performed are as follows:
- Perform quality checks on all data entry activity performed by the department’s financial clerks.
- Audit and monitor all payroll activity related to internal transfers between pay groups. Calculate and process payoffs; ensure accuracy of pay and labor transactions.
- Coordinate tax location code updates for employees entering and returning from extended work assignments. Coordinate wage and tax reversals as necessary.
- Monitor and perform updates to multistate taxation related activity.
- Evaluate monthly leave accrual activity for accuracy. Perform updates as necessary.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting
- 2+ years of Payroll processing experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Reporting and data analysis experience
Preferred:
- 4+ years of Payroll processing experience
- Experience working with mainframe based financial systems
- PeopleSoft experience
- Prior experience working with multiple pay groups / collective bargaining units
- Microsoft office suite
