Who we are looking for:
As a key member of the second line of defense, the Operational Risk Analyst supports the bank’s enterprise-wide operational risk management framework — providing independent oversight, challenge, and advisory support to business lines including mortgage production, servicing, and support functions.
This role offers meaningful exposure to a broad set of risk disciplines and is well-suited for a detail-oriented professional who thrives at the intersection of risk, process, and regulatory compliance in a community bank environment.
What you’ll do:
- Participates in the application of operational risk policies, technology, and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.
- Contributes to risk assessments and drives actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices.
- Ensures policies and procedures meet regulatory and business obligations.
- Utilizes MIS to monitor exceptions; and where necessary perform root cause analysis.
- Identifies issues, oversees remediation efforts, and escalate.
- Perform business analyses of related control frameworks.
What you’ll need to be successful:
Success in this job relies on your time management skills, organization, and positive attitude. In addition, you’ll need the following qualifications:
- 2-5 years of related experience
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to facilitate discussions
- Ability to quickly grasp and master new concepts / requirements and related product / functional knowledge
- Ability to create and deliver presentations to management and/or stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
- Willingness to ask questions, challenge the status quo and seek out answers
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various analyses or reviews
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with a multi-level team
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
