Medical Billing Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of the Medical Billing Specialist is to ensure the smooth transition of claims throughout the revenue cycle process. 

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Maintains current knowledge of billing rules and regulations.
2. Follows up on delinquent accounts.
3. Submits claims to insurance companies.
4. Manages denials of claims.
5. Contacts insurance companies and patients to seek account resolution.
6. Assists with patient account registration.
7. Assists with incoming calls.
   1. Transfers
   2. Taking phone payments
   3. Answering patient billing questions.

SCOPE OF IMPACT

The Medical Billing Specialist ensures the organization is getting payment for services rendered in a timely and efficient manner.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates Degree preferred.

Experience:

• Billing experience preferred
