Summary
Reporting directly to the Medical Billing Manager, the Medical Billing Associate – Billing Specialist supports the overall mission of The Warren Center by accurately processing medical claims, and resolving billing issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, and payment posting
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage details
- Review and correct claims for accuracy prior to submission
- Follow up on unpaid, rejected, or denied claims with insurance carriers
- Assist with claim appeals and resubmissions as needed
- Post payments, adjustments, and denials in the billing system
- Communicate with patients regarding account balances and available payment options
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient and billing records
- Assist with month-end reporting and account reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with payor guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and organizational policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Daily Tasks
- Retrieve and post payments from Waystar
- Reconcile billing and payment records
- Review and resolve authorizations and eligibility denials
- Conduct insurance verifications
- Obtain commercial referrals and authorizations for services
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
- 5+ experience in medical billing with focus in accounts receivable
- Experience with ProviderSoft medical software preferred
