The Opportunity
Modali Consulting is seeking a senior operating executive to lead and scale its procurement systems implementation and consulting delivery organization. The Managing Partner, Procurement Systems & Delivery will assume enterprise-level accountability for client delivery, technical governance, delivery economics, talent development, and operational discipline across the firm's implementation portfolio.
Modali's current delivery business is substantially concentrated in Ivalua. Accordingly, the successful candidate must be able to credibly govern Ivalua programs and challenge functional, technical, integration, data, testing, and release decisions. The mandate, however, is intentionally broader than a single-platform practice. This leader will build an implementation organization capable of supporting adjacent procurement platforms, ERP integrations, managed services, data and AI-enabled solutions, and future enterprise technology offerings.
This is not a conventional practice-lead role. It is designed for an executive who can become the CEO's principal operating counterpart for the consulting business, reduce founder dependency, build a strong leadership bench, and create a repeatable delivery model that supports responsible growth.
Role Purpose
The Managing Partner is accountable for ensuring that Modali delivers complex enterprise programs predictably, profitably, securely, and with strong client outcomes. The role integrates four responsibilities that are often separated in larger firms: delivery leadership, technical governance, commercial management, and people leadership.
- Own the performance of the consulting delivery organization across active client engagements.
- Protect client outcomes, company reputation, project margin, and delivery quality through disciplined governance and early intervention.
- Build scalable operating mechanisms for staffing, forecasting, quality assurance, escalation management, and executive reporting.
- Strengthen Modali's core Ivalua capability while developing a broader procurement systems and enterprise implementation practice.
- Partner with the CEO on growth, strategic accounts, major pursuits, service development, and long-term enterprise value creation.
Primary Accountabilities
1. Consulting Delivery Leadership
- Maintain executive accountability for delivery across all implementation, advisory, PMO, integration, data migration, testing, cutover, hypercare, and managed-services engagements.
- Establish and enforce delivery methodology, stage gates, governance standards, quality controls, status reporting, risk escalation, and executive review routines.
- Ensure projects are appropriately estimated, staffed, governed, documented, and transitioned into production support.
- Intervene early in troubled engagements, establish recovery plans, and maintain direct executive communication with clients when material delivery risk emerges.
- Create consistent expectations for project managers, functional leads, solution architects, technical leads, and workstream owners.
2. Ivalua and Technical Governance
- Provide executive oversight for Ivalua implementations across source-to-pay domains, including supplier management, sourcing, contracting, procurement, invoicing, risk, analytics, and related workflows.
- Review and challenge solution architecture, configuration strategy, customization decisions, data models, security design, integrations, and nonfunctional requirements.
- Ensure solutions are maintainable, supportable, secure, performant, and aligned with reasonable upgrade paths; prevent unnecessary customization and unmanaged technical debt.
- Govern APIs, web services, middleware, ERP integrations, SSO, identity and access, master data, data migration, reconciliation, monitoring, and error-handling design.
- Oversee environment strategy, configuration transport, release management, test strategy, defect governance, cutover planning, rollback readiness, hypercare, and production transition.
- Establish technical design-review and quality-assurance mechanisms appropriate to the size and risk profile of each engagement.
- Maintain sufficient technical depth to identify flawed assumptions and high-risk design choices without functioning as the day-to-day solution architect or developer.
3. Commercial and Financial Management
- Own delivery forecasting, project economics, gross margin, utilization, staffing mix, subcontractor use, backlog conversion, and capacity planning.
- Establish reliable project-level financial reporting and intervene when burn rates, staffing, scope, or forecast-at-completion materially deviate from plan.
- Ensure out-of-scope work is identified, documented, priced, and governed through timely change control.
- Support proposal development, solution shaping, implementation estimates, commercial assumptions, delivery models, and contract risk review.
- Partner with the CEO on account growth, major pursuits, renewals, managed-services opportunities, and strategic alliances.
- Balance growth objectives with delivery capacity, quality, concentration risk, and prudent acceptance of new work.
4. People and Organizational Leadership
- Lead and develop directors, project managers, architects, functional leaders, technical leaders, consultants, and delivery support personnel.
- Build a credible leadership layer so that client delivery does not depend on direct founder intervention.
- Own workforce planning, hiring recommendations, onboarding standards, performance management, career development, succession planning, and leadership coaching.
- Create clear role expectations, competency models, promotion criteria, and accountability mechanisms for delivery personnel.
- Build a high-performance culture that values transparency, sound judgment, client responsibility, collaboration, and early escalation of risk.
- Ensure staffing decisions appropriately consider skill, capacity, cost, continuity, client needs, and employee development.
5. Practice Development and Firm Building
- Strengthen Modali's Ivalua implementation methodology, delivery assets, accelerators, reusable components, quality standards, and certification strategy.
- Develop adjacent offerings in procurement transformation, enterprise integrations, managed services, data, analytics, AI-enabled delivery, and related systems implementation.
- Identify repeatable intellectual property and service models that improve delivery quality, margins, differentiation, and recurring revenue.
- Represent Modali with clients, technology partners, prospective hires, and industry stakeholders.
- Contribute to annual planning, organizational design, growth strategy, risk management, and investment prioritization.
Authority and Governance
The title 'Managing Partner' reflects senior leadership, firm-building responsibility, and the expectation of a close operating partnership with the Founder & CEO. It does not, by itself, confer ownership, membership, shareholder status, fiduciary rights, or authority to bind the company beyond formally delegated limits.
- The role will have broad operating authority over consulting delivery within approved budgets, policies, and delegated decision rights.
- Material pricing exceptions, contractual commitments, executive hiring, capital expenditures, acquisitions, banking matters, equity decisions, and changes to corporate governance remain subject to CEO or other required approval.
- Any equity, profits interest, partnership interest, or long-term incentive will be governed solely by separate written agreements and applicable vesting, repurchase, confidentiality, restrictive covenant, and tax provisions.
- The Managing Partner must promptly escalate material client, legal, financial, cybersecurity, data privacy, personnel, safety, reputational, or regulatory risks.
- The company may refine delegated authority as the organization grows and as the executive demonstrates sound judgment and operating effectiveness.
Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- Typically 15 or more years of progressive experience in enterprise software implementation, management consulting, procurement transformation, ERP, source-to-pay, or adjacent technology services.
- Substantial leadership responsibility for a consulting practice, business unit, delivery portfolio, or multi-client implementation organization.
- Demonstrated accountability for project economics, delivery quality, staffing, forecasting, utilization, margin, and client escalation.
- Experience leading multiple concurrent, complex enterprise implementations involving integrations, data migration, testing, change management, and production deployment.
- Strong executive client presence and the ability to communicate effectively with C-suite, procurement, finance, technology, legal, security, and public-sector stakeholders.
- Track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining consulting leaders and specialized delivery talent.
- Demonstrated commercial judgment, including proposal shaping, implementation estimation, change control, account expansion, and risk-based decision-making.
Platform and Technical Qualifications
- Direct leadership experience with Ivalua is strongly preferred.
- Candidates without direct Ivalua experience must demonstrate deep leadership experience with comparable enterprise procurement platforms, such as Coupa, SAP Ariba, Oracle Procurement, GEP, or Jaggaer, and the ability to develop Ivalua-specific depth rapidly.
- Working knowledge of enterprise application architecture, integration patterns, APIs, middleware, identity and access management, data migration, security roles, release management, testing, and production support.
- Ability to distinguish configuration from customization and to assess maintainability, scalability, technical debt, performance, supportability, and upgrade risk.
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, or other enterprise ERP environments is strongly preferred.
- Public-sector, regulated-industry, or complex-governance experience is preferred.
Leadership Characteristics
- Builder mentality: motivated by creating an enduring firm rather than administering an established platform.
- High accountability: accepts ownership for outcomes while creating clear accountability below the executive level.
- Risk-aware judgment: neither reckless nor bureaucratic; able to distinguish manageable execution risk from unacceptable exposure.
- Technical credibility: capable of earning the confidence of architects and engineers while remaining commercially and operationally focused.
- Low-ego collaboration: able to operate as a true counterpart to a founder without competing for symbolic authority.
- Direct communication: raises concerns early, communicates bad news clearly, and does not allow status reporting to obscure material risk.
- Client stewardship: balances client advocacy with contractual discipline, employee sustainability, and protection of the firm's economics and reputation.

Travel, Work Environment, and Employment Conditions

- The position requires the ability to work across multiple time zones and to respond to material client or delivery issues outside standard business hours when reasonably necessary.
- Employment is subject to verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States and may be subject to reference, background, confidentiality, conflict-of-interest, and client-specific screening requirements.
- This job description describes the primary responsibilities of the role but is not intended to create a contract of employment or to limit the company's ability to modify responsibilities, reporting relationships, or delegated authority.
- Modali Consulting is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants without unlawful discrimination.

Candidates should provide a resume and a concise statement describing the largest consulting or implementation portfolio they have led, their direct experience with Ivalua or comparable platforms, their P&L and people-management responsibility, and why they are interested in helping build a founder-led consulting firm.
