The Opportunity

We are seeking a Manager, Payroll to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the payroll function. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing, supervising a team, and continuously improving payroll systems and processes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
• Review and approve payroll data, including timesheets, ensuring proper processing and reporting
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, including reconciliations and general ledger alignment
• Resolve payroll-related inquiries and complex issues from employees and management
• Maintain and enhance payroll systems, processes, and tracking mechanisms
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, including payroll taxes and employment standards
• Prepare and review year-end reporting (e.g., T4s, reconciliations, statutory filings)
• Manage employee payroll records, including new hires, changes, and terminations
• Collaborate with Human Resources on benefits administration and employee data accuracy
• Support financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities related to payroll
• Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for finance, leadership, and regulatory bodies
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service delivery
• Support cross-functional projects with Finance and other departments
• Administer executive payroll and handle sensitive, confidential transactions

What You Bring

• Canadian Payroll designation (e.g., PCP or CPM)
• Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience, including team leadership
• Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• High level of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail

Compensation

The pay rate for this position is $80,000 – $100,000 per year + Full Benefits, based on experience, qualifications, and scope of the engagement.
