We are currently seeking a Manager of Payroll and Leave Administration who will be responsible for managing accurate, compliant and efficient payroll administration, HR information systems operations and employee leave programs. This role oversees payroll processes, HRIS data integrity, system optimization, leave administration, related regulatory reporting and compliance activities, and complete benefit administration.
UCFS Hours of Operation: Open 8:00am - 7:00pm; Hours Vary By Day & Location
Expected Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Work Location: Hybrid Eligible with 1 Weekday in Office
Responsibilities-
- Manage end-to-end payroll administration to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time in accordance with applicable federal and state requirements.
- Manage HRIS administration, including employee data maintenance, system configuration, security access, workflows, reporting and oversee the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and security of all data in system.
- Determine eligibility for and designate leaves in accordance with policy and federal and state law; issue required notices, educate employees and managers about leave options and maintain supporting documentation
- Reconcile and prepare invoices for payment for the organization’s employee benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, long-term disability, life insurance and voluntary benefit plans.
- Track workplace injuries, coordinates reporting with the worker’s compensation carrier and completes all required OSHA reporting.

RequirementsMinimum Education and Experience
- Associate Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field
- 8 years of successful, hands-on experience in Benefit, Employee Relations, Leaves, Payroll, HRIS database management.
- Must have proven experience in payroll and HRIS conversion and integration, including electronic module build outs.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience utilizing and configuring Paylocity or a comparable HRIS system
- Must have at least 3 years of experience in hybrid work environment to be eligible to work remotely
Minimum Other Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in payroll practices, wage and hour requirements and federal and Connecticut employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, worker’s compensation, and CT paid leave.
- Experience in a multi-state environment a strong plus
- Experience managing payroll platforms such as Paylocity, ADP or similar systems
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, self-manage, and make sound decisions.
- Ability to work effectively with and hold accountable managers at all levels.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and recordkeeping
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain processes clearly to employees and managers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
