Manager of Accounting

Positional Summary:

• This role will assist in driving the organization's accounting functions including cost, payables, and reporting. This position will contribute to the development and maintenance of financial reporting, planning, and budgeting systems.

Principle Accountabilities (Functional):

• Management reporting tasks such as external and internal commission calculation and payments, and inter-company transactions such as entity earned commission on a regular closed loop schedule with minimal inter-company open/unpaid balances.

• Ensuring all corporate and required accounting policies and procedures are documented and followed.

• Foreign exchange management, ensuring full compliance with company practices and controls.

• Drive preparation of periodic reporting and required legal filings.

• Compilation, analysis, and reporting of GAAP compliant financial statements, along with supporting inventory and A/R schedules.

• As needed, grow to be able to act on behalf of the Director during their absence.

• Familiarize with the duties of the Director and be able to assist or perform as needed.

• Will give input into developing the budget.

• Will train and mentor the accounting staff.

• Will coordinate with auditors.

Principal Accountabilities: (General Supervisory)

• Carries out responsibilities in accordance with company policy and applicable State and Federal laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, directing work and appraising performance

• Provides direct leadership to Finance and Accounting employees while functioning as a working manager with hands-on involvement in departmental activities

• Provides hands-on support during financial close, budgeting, forecasting, audits, financial analysis and other periods of increased workload or complexity

• Interprets company policies to employees and enforces applicable safety regulations

• Implements cross-training and employee development activities with specific attention toward creating a highly capable and flexible Finance and Accounting organization

• Establishes and implements team and individual Critical Success Factors, including measurement and documentation of employee progress toward established goals

• Develops employees through coaching, training, expanded responsibilities, and performance feedback.

• Promotes accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and effective business partnership throughout the Finance and Accounting organization.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Accounting or Finance field of study is highly preferred. 

• Master’s Degree is preferred.

• CPA is highly desired.

• 5-8+ years of accounting experience with notable team management.

• Multi-site and ideally, multi-national experience is preferred.

• Complexity and precision required, as part of a public company; regarding timeframes to compile, analyze and report financial performance and forecast.

• Hands-on experience with foreign currency transactions and translation policies.

• Mandarin is preferred.

Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:

• Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes

Physical Demands:

• Requires the ability to use a computer on a frequent basis. 

• Remaining stationary for extended periods but needs to be mobile enough to navigate through work areas. 

• Must be able to communicate clearly with fellow colleagues, including external stakeholders.

Target Annual Compensation:  $116,000 - $126,000 + Bonus + Robust Benefits
