MANAGER OF ACCOUNTING SERVICES
Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is inviting applications for the full-time permanent position of Manager of Accounting Services, based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Position Summary:
The Manager of Accounting Services is responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting operations of the Authority. This position provides leadership in financial planning, budgeting, reporting, compliance, payroll oversight, and internal controls to ensure the effective stewardship of organizational resources.
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting and financial operations of the Authority.
- Prepare and monitor annual operating and capital budgets.
- Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and members of the Board of Director.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, legislation, funding agreements, and organizational policies.
- Coordinate and manage year-end audit processes and liaise with external auditors.
- Monitor cash flow, investments, banking activities, and financial risk management.
- Oversee payroll administration and related remittances.
- Develop and maintain effective financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff while promoting a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Support funding applications and reporting requirements for government and other funding agencies.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA designation.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
- Experience working in the education, public sector, Indigenous organizations, or not-for-profit sector is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
