Manager, External Reporting and Technical Accounting
The Manager, External Reporting and Technical Accounting leads the preparation and submission of the company's financial results to external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations and SOX controls and evaluates complex accounting and non-routine transactions to ensure the company’s accounting policies are in compliance with evolving standards. This role is on-site with flexibility, located in Nashville, TN. Sponsorship for employment visa status will NOT be provided now or in the future.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
- SEC Filings: Lead the preparation and review of periodic filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and annual proxy statements.
- Financial Disclosures: Draft complex financial statements, footnote disclosures, and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A).
- Technical Accounting: Research and document technical accounting positions on new pronouncements or complex transactions, such as M&A, stock-based compensation, expense disaggregation and revenue recognition.
- Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, managing the delivery of audit requests and resolving technical reporting and accounting issues.
- Internal Controls: Maintain and serve as a champion for internal controls over financial reporting to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404.
- Cross-functional Support: Partner with the Investor Relations team to ensure consistency between SEC filings and quarterly earnings releases and investor presentations. Partner with Legal and other functions to drive excellence in External Reporting.
- Strategic Advisory: Partner with Treasury, Legal, Corporate Development and others to assess the accounting implications of proposed deals, contracts and other areas of complexity.
- Implementation of New Standards: Monitor emerging accounting standards (e.g., FASB, SEC pronouncements) and lead implementation efforts, including impact assessments and cross-functional training.
Qualifications
Education:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, strongly preferred.
Experience:
- 4–8+ years of SEC reporting, accounting, or related experience.
- Big 4 public accounting experience, strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Advanced research skills using applicable accounting literature.
- Ability to communicate complex issues to non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in financial reporting software such as Workiva (Wdesk) or ActiveDisclosure, preferred.
- Experience with XBRL tagging and review, preferred.
- Experience with large ERP systems like Oracle or SAP, preferred.
Base salary range: $105,011 - $135,000
Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
